The Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics Department is proud of its strong research tradition.
2019 marks the 34th Annual Summer Research Training Fellowship offered by the Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. This fellowship program is ideal for students who are exploring STEM career options. By being directly involved in experimentation, students get the chance to see how science concepts that they are learning in the classroom are applied to modern research questions. In the past, some of the fellowship recipients have even continued their research projects either as an independent study for high school credit, as a matriculated UK student in the fall semester, or as summer employment while home from attending an out-of-town college. The deadline for receiving applications is Sunday, March 31st, 2019, 11:59 P.M.
Faculty members in our Department currently hold research grants from funding organizations including the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the American Heart Association, and others. The Department also supports NIH Training Grants and Journal Clubs.
